One of the several topical methods of removing freckles from the skin is liquid nitrogen. Liquid nitrogen often know as cryotherapy is the process of “freezing” the brown discolored spots off of the skin. The treatment involves applying liquid nitrogen, which has a very cold sensation when applied to the skin, directly on the freckle. As the liquid penetrated it cause the formation of a blister. The blister initiates the body to begin a healing response and the freckle is lifted out of the skin. The treated area then sloughs off discolored area.
Treatments with this type of therapy can be painful. Caution should be used when undergoing this freckle removal method. The melanocytes (cells that produce color within the skin) can be damaged resulting in permanent white spot in the place of the freckle and scarring to healthy tissue can occur. Depending upon the area and amount of skin treated recovery can be lengthy. Freckled areas should not be treated more than once per week.
Consult with your dermatologist to see if cryotherapy is the appropriate treatment to remove your freckles. |
